Emily Dineen uses her unique voice and her creative way of writing to bring new stories to local communities. She shares important information that will help the city’s population understand what is going on.
Emily Dineen was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. She graduated high school in 2023 with her Double Dogwood Diploma, meaning she can speak both English and French fluently. After high school, she decided to take the Broadcast and Online Journalism program at BCIT in order to chase her passion in writing and public speaking.
Many people inspired Emily to pursue a career in journalism, but the most notable ones were her grade 12 English teacher, Simran Mann, and her mentor for her capstone project, Katarina Szulc, a news anchor and writer with CBC Edmonton. During her capstone project, Emily wrote about the feminist movement in Middle Eastern countries. More specifically Afghanistan banning women from attending post-secondary school and the death of Mahsa Amini and how it affected women all over the world. She is currently using her skills at school, where she will graduate from her program in 2025.
